Church Distinctiveness
St Michael’s has close links with our local church. It is an exciting partnership within our locality. The Head and the Vicar have always worked together to ensure mutual support in prayer, worship, and sharing of buildings and resources.
Over the last decades each new Vicar has developed our partnership in new and exciting ways. Under Rev Sue we began links with local nursing homes. Our choir still sings to the elderly at Christmas. We also began a link during Lent where the KS2 children visit the church during Lent and have the chance to experience a communion service.
Under Rev Vicky, now the Dean of Ely Cathedral, the Flixton Folk Festival was started. Since then the school have been involved with choral and other musical events.
Rev Huw joined the Parish in 2016. He loves coming to eat with the children and plays football with them. He is a mean DJ!
We plan Christmas, Easter and Harvest together. Both church and school have a passion to support those who are disadvantaged. Each year we support Stretford Food bank.
St Michael’s is a Voluntary Aided school. This means that the majority of our governors are appointed through the PCC. We are grateful for the skills they bring to support the school ethos and to help maintain our distinctiveness.
