Music
At our school, we are proud to offer a rich and engaging music curriculum using the Charanga scheme, taught by a specialist music teacher. Charanga provides an exciting and comprehensive approach to teaching music, ensuring children across all year groups develop key musical skills such as listening, performing, composing, and appraising.
The structured progression within Charanga allows children to explore a wide variety of musical styles and genres, fostering creativity and confidence. It makes music accessible and enjoyable for all learners, combining traditional music education with digital resources to enhance participation and learning.
In addition to weekly music lessons, children are given opportunities to perform at various events both in school and within the local community. They also participate in whole-class instrumental lessons, such as violin, which help them develop their technical skills and musical understanding. Pupils in Key Stage 2 have the chance to join our school choir and take part in exciting events like Young Voices, where they sing alongside thousands of other children at a large venue.
Our specialist music teacher brings expertise and passion to each lesson, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to flourish musically. To learn more about our music curriculum and the development plans for this academic year, please see the music development plan below.
